Edward “Ed” Marsi, a current senior financial consultant with TD Ameritrade and former regional sales representative with Onset Financial, enjoys muscle cars. Muscle car enthusiasts like Edward Marsi have much to look forward to, with the upcoming resurrection of the Shelby GT500.
Expected in 2019, the upcoming incarnation of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 remains cloaked in secrecy, but some details have emerged. While its most exciting feature is no doubt its engine, other features of the car are equally as exciting, but for different reasons.
The vehicle uses a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine. Conservative estimates have placed its horsepower over 700, though some have concluded that it could be as high as 800. The vehicle comes with a vented hood, enabling the powerful engine to breathe.
The GT500 also sports a lightweight design, using carbon fiber to provide strength without additional weight. Parts using carbon fiber include the rear wing and the rims, and the brake rotors use carbon-ceramic compound as well.
Though currently unknown, the clutch system may be the same dual-clutch 7-speed system used in the GT super car. Other plausible clutch systems include a 6-speed standard manual clutch and an automatic 10-speed clutch.
